What Is the 8th Pay Commission?
The 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) was constituted by the Government of India in January 2025 to review and revise the pay structure for Central Government employees and Defence personnel. Its recommendations are expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026.
The pay commission covers more than 50 lakh Central Government employees and 65 lakh pensioners. The new pay matrix is expected to increase salaries significantly through a revised fitment factor applied to current 7th CPC pay.
